EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

THE MAGIC OF MATERIALS – IN PARMIGIANINO’S WORKSHOP

Starting from a detail in the Room of Diana and Actaeon, a work by Francesco Mazzola (known as Parmigianino), we will learn together how to create a fresco, from the sinopia with tracing incision to the application of color on a tablet. Fresco is a painting technique that uses pigments diluted in lime water and applied to still-wet plaster; for this reason, in addition to trying our hand at creating a fresco, we will also learn which pigments and earths Parmigianino used and how he applied them in the Fontanellato room. Are you ready to become young apprentice painters?

LET’S BUILD THE CAMERA OBSCURA!

During the visit, we will focus on the theme of pastimes in the 1800s. The camera obscura will be thoroughly explored and, at the end, the students, in groups, will have to build their own.

GILDING WORKSHOP

We will learn the ancient technique of gilding with bole and gold leaf to recreate precious objects found in the Rocca: fun is guaranteed!

THE HISTORY OF PORTRAITURE – PORTRAIT THROUGH HISTORY

The workshop explores the history of portraiture through posture, expression, hairstyle, and clothing. The portraits in the museum’s rooms will be analyzed to understand the evolution of official and unofficial portraiture. At the end of the visit, students will be asked to draw each other using the information gathered.

FASHION IN THE PAST

After a presentation by an archaeologist explaining the use of textile fibers in the past and the techniques of working them, children will be guided in making their own bracelet.

I WANT TO BE A PAINTER (primary school)

Explanation and provision of the necessary tools to create their own artwork.

PIGMENT WORKSHOP (secondary school, first and second grade)

Explanation of the pigments used by Parmigianino to create various types of painting techniques together.

FRESCOES AND COMICS (secondary school, first grade)

ORIGAMI (primary and secondary school, first grade)

Workshop designed to develop patience, creativity, and concentration, starting from a simple sheet of paper that will take on meaningful shapes.

HANDS IN THE DOUGH

Between entertainment and learning, we teach children to cook according to the traditions of our region: without fire, halfway between didactics and creativity, to enhance the products of our land and the know-how (kneading, rolling out the dough, mixing ingredients).

*The educational workshops last from 2.5 to 3 hours and include a guided tour of the Rocca and educational materials

* The cost of the activity is €12.00. The indicated price refers to groups or school classes of at least 20 paying students. For groups of fewer than 20 people, a surcharge will be applied.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS

PARMIGIANINO AT THE COURT OF GALEAZZO

After a careful observation of the "Diana and Actaeon" room, we examine the role played by patrons and artists and the cultural period in which Parmigianino worked.

KNIGHTS, WEAPONS, LOVES

Inside the majestic Hall of Arms, it is possible to relive the dream of the chivalric epic. Forged by skilled craftsmen, the weapons of the Sanvitale collection present original examples of swords, bows, crossbows, rifles, and pistols. Now stripped by time of their real offensive capability, these objects remain as extraordinary documents of the technological, social, and military development of history. But above all, they tell us about the men and women who wielded them, their loves, and their courage.

FEMALE FIGURES IN THE 1800s

From Maria Luigia of Austria to bourgeois women and those of the lower classes, the educational visit offers the opportunity to read history through the images and words of female figures.

THE MYTH FROM THE DOMUS TO THE CASTLE

Starting from the visit to the Parmigianino Room, we understand what the meaning of myths was in Roman times and what meaning they have acquired over the centuries.

STROLLING THROUGH THE VILLAGE

Accompanied by an educational guide, the children walk through the streets and alleys of the historic center of Fontanellato, discovering the history and characteristics of the monuments.

WHO GUIDES THE GUIDE?

Finally, you lead the visits! Upon teachers' request, a booklet will be sent to the school for the students to read, so they can then explain the museum to the Rocca guides and the whole class.

*The educational workshops last from 1 hour and a half to 2 hours depending on the chosen theme

* The cost of the activity is €10.00. The indicated price refers to groups or school classes of at least 20 paying students. For groups of fewer than 20 people, a surcharge will be applied.
